Valve is known to be working on a multiplayer hero action game called Deadlock in the style of Overwatch. But this may not be the only project in development. Rumors have appeared online regarding a project codenamed White Sands. In particular, insider and dataminer Tyler McVicker claims to have found a mention of a project called HLX, which is called White Sands in other sources. And this project will use elements from the Half-Life series, such as a connector for charging the HEV suit. This is not a VR game, meaning the project will not be a continuation of Half-Life: Alyx.
Of course, there is a temptation to announce a new secret Half-Life 3 project. However, this is not the first and not the last rumor about the development of the third part. It is more likely that Valve is targeting some kind of side project in this universe, like Half-Life: Alyx. By the way, four years have passed since the release of the mentioned game, and the team that has experience working with the Half-Life world may well be involved in the development of White Sands.
In the meantime, Valve’s next project should be the action game Deadlock. But even regarding this project, the company is keeping a complete silence, although there are already screenshots and short videos from the first closed alpha test.
