Bohemia Interactive, together with independent studio Heavy Ordnance Works, have released a major update for the Spearhead 1944 add-on for Arma 3. The new version 1.1 transports players into the thick of the Battle of Normandy.
The main new feature of the update is the Mortain map, covering an area of 64 km². It recreates the site of fierce fighting that took place between August 7 and 13, 1944, during the German counteroffensive known as Operation Lüttich. Historically significant sites can be found on the map: the Mortain church, the Cambremont mine and the White Abbey.
But that’s not all. Here’s what else the update brought:
More than 6 new factions and improvements to existing ones 12 new weapons and grenades 10 new vehicles with various modifications Expanded character wardrobe and equipment set Two new co-op scenarios for six players A couple of fresh single-player missions Improvements to the Operation Cobra co-op campaign German and French radio protocols Special parachutes for American and German forces Airborne simulation module Cows and rats Destructible bridges
The developers have also made many improvements to existing content and added various little things that will make the gameplay even more interesting.
Let’s remember that Spearhead 1944 is part of the Creator DLC program for Arma 3. This initiative by Bohemia Interactive gives independent developers a chance to create content for the game and make money from it. As a result, players get new content, and developers get the opportunity to implement their ideas in the popular game.
