Being one of the most popular anime ever to exist on the market, the lack of adaptations surrounding the Fairy Tail name is indeed a bit confusing. Fortunately, this situation has changed a bit. Along with the release of the RPG game concocted by Koei Tecmo and Gust some time ago and then followed by the confirmation of the release of the second series, it turns out that Fairy Tail will not only be adapted in a AAA budget format. Kondansha, who seems to be in charge of the rights to use Fairy Tail, apparently has a crazy idea that deserves to be welcomed with open arms. That’s right, handing it over to the indie scene.
Kodasha Creator’s Lab has officially announced a variety of Fairy Tail game projects that will come from the hands of the indie scene. No kidding, there are three games that are planned to be released via Steam. The first two games to be released first are Fairy Tail: Dungeons on August 26, 2024 which is positioned as a deckbuilding rogue-lite and Fairy Tail: Beach Volleyball Havoc which will be released on September 16, 2024, which as the name suggests, is certainly present as an exciting beach volleyball game. The third game is Fairy Tail: Birth of Magic which currently does not have many details.
Kodansha handed over several Fairy Tail game adaptations to the indie scene.
There’s no word on whether Kodansha is interested in exploring this approach to Fairy Tail in the future, or if this is just a special case to test the waters. An indie Fairy Tail game? Interesting, you ask?
