The second season of House of the Dragon came to an end at the beginning of this week. And the finale caused quite a stir among fans, as can be seen from the ratings of the episode. Compared to the other episodes of the season, “The Queen Who Ever Was” is a complete failure with just 6.3 out of 10 stars on IMDb. The return of an important character from Game of Thrones probably also played a part here.
What happens in the season finale of House of the Dragon?
During the episode, we witness a vision of Daemon Targaryen in which we see moments from Aegon’s prophecy again. Not only does the Shadow King appear in it, but also another famous character from HBO’s Game of Thrones that fans weren’t expecting to see here.
The producers of House of the Dragon hint in the finale that Jon Snow is not the chosen one in the main series at all. Instead, the vision surprisingly shows Daenerys Targaryen with her dragons, contradicting the actual plot of “A Song of Ice and Fire”. What does the director say about Daenerys’ comeback?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Geeta Vasant Patel recently talked about the controversial finale of House of the Dragon Season 2. She said:
“I was excited because it’s the moment where Daemon understands the future, what’s to come. And it connects House of the Dragon with Game of Thrones. As a fan of the world of Game of Thrones, it was so exciting for me to connect these two time periods. (…) It was a moment that made Daemon look beyond himself and realize that he’s part of a bigger picture. And maybe it will convince him to finally do what is for the good of the world, and not what is good for himself and his ego.”

Who plays Daenerys in House of the Dragon?
While actress Emilia Clarke originally played the role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, the Brit does not appear in House of the Dragon. Imogen Ruby Little was hired to play Daenerys and recently confirmed her appearance via Instagram. The actress has previously played small supporting roles in The Witcher, Barbie and Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune.
