Jez Corden is back to talking about the much-rumored portable Xbox, a console that has been talked about for many years but has not (yet?) seen the light of day. Yet the Windows Central journalist claims that the device exists and will be released alongside the new Xbox.
Corden was the first between 2021 and 2022 to talk about a portable Xbox specifically for Cloud gaming, Phil Spencer has never hidden that an Xbox Series Y exists as a concept and prototype but production costs are still too high and do not allow reaching a price point that is right for the mass market.
The Windows Central journalist now denies the latest rumors that wanted Xbox Series Y a hybrid console (Nintendo Switch style), this will not be the case and Microsoft will launch a traditional home console alongside a portable “add-on”, it is not clear however if this will work like PlayStation Portal or if it will be a true independent portable console. Microsoft will probably opt for a solution style ROG Ally or Logitech G Cloud.
The next-generation Xbox console will be released in 2026, ideally the new portable Xbox could come out at the same time or maybe the following year, but this is just a hypothesis and there is no confirmation of any kind on this matter.
