Masayoshi Yokoyama said that the appearance of Kiryu or Yakuza characters in other games such as fighting games is a less suitable medium for this. He added that a medium such as the Yakuza TV Series adaptation feels better than just appearing in other games.

The Producer also explained that the Ryu Ga Gotoku developer team had received many invitations from other games to appear there. But the developer team never accepted the offer and said “let us in”. According to him, using a different medium is better for this series and Kiryu.

Actually, the question about Kiryu’s character to appear in fighting games or other games has been answered before by Toshihiro Nagoshi as the creator of Yakuza. He revealed this himself in an exclusive interview in 2020 before he left the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio team.
In the interview, one of the reasons why Kiryu can’t appear in other fighting games is because he doesn’t want to see the Protagonist hitting or hurting women. That’s because it’s already part of his own personality and Kiryu has been made like that for a long time.
So it is not surprising that even though the creator is no longer at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, it seems that his legacy of maintaining Kiryu’s characteristics will continue to be continued by his teammates there.
