Intel has found a new application for its Alchemist graphics chips. The processor giant has unveiled the Arc A760A video adapter, designed for use in car infotainment systems. According to Intel representatives, commercial use of the new product will begin next year.
“Intel’s entry into the discrete GPU market for the automotive industry addresses the growing demand for computing power in increasingly complex vehicles. By adding Intel Arc graphics for automotive to its existing portfolio of AI-enabled systems-on-chips (SoCs), Intel offers automakers an open, flexible, and scalable platform solution that will enable next-level in-car experiences,” the chipmaker said in a press release.
The Intel Arc A760A video adapter is based on the 6-nm ACM-G10 graphics processor, familiar from the desktop Arc A770 and Arc A750. The new product uses a configuration with 28 Xe cores (3584 stream processors) and a 256-bit memory bus, through which the GPU interacts with 16 gigabytes of GDDR6. The computing power of the new product is declared to be 14 Tflops in FP32 operations, which indicates an operating frequency of the GPU of about 1950 MHz. The connection interface is 16 PCIe 4.0 lines, the rated TBP level is 225 W.
The official release of the Intel Arc A760A video adapter is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
