But the pace of console sales is predictably slowing as the market becomes saturated.
Sony itself released sales information in its report to investors for the last quarter of fiscal year 2024.
In it, the Japanese company sold 2.4 million consoles, which is significantly less than the year before for the same period – then it managed to sell 3.3 million.
Overall, Sony’s gaming division is doing well: sales in the Games & Network Services segment grew by 12%, and operating profit increased by 33% (from 49.2 billion yen ($335 million) to 65.2 billion yen ($443 million)).
