In its latest financial report, SEGA’s parent company reported an increase in net profit in the first quarter.
Sega Sammy, parent company of SEGA, has presented its figures for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year.
The company reported net sales of $712.8 million, a decrease of 3.2% compared to the previous year. Net profit, however, increased by a whopping 42% to $16.9 million.
Sales of new releases increased compared to the previous year, but still fell short of expectations. In the first quarter, 5.86 million games were shipped, of which 710,000 were new releases.
Persona 5 Royal and Unicorn Overlord are among the solid repeat purchases. However, the strongest sales came from Sonic films and animations.
