Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been available for over a year now and we almost gave up on it, but now the version for the old consoles is finally coming.
Hard to believe, but true. Electronic Arts has finally announced a release date for the slightly outdated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in the PS4 and Xbox One version. The game is now set to hit the old consoles on September 17th. About a year ago, Respawn confirmed that a port was in the works.
Let’s hope that the old-gen version will do better than the PC version at the time, because that was beyond good and evil, especially in terms of performance. A whopping seven patches were required at the time to get the game halfway up to scratch. Another PC patch is due to be released shortly after the console version is released.
If you’re wondering why the port is still being released for the old consoles, it should be noted that at least on Playstation, about half of the total playing time is still spent on the PS4 – the PS5 has not yet completely replaced its predecessor.
It’s good news that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are coming to market at a reduced price. Both versions are currently available for pre-order in stores for €49.99. Those who pre-order will receive a few extras such as the Hermit Lightsaber Set, the Combustion Blaster Set and a Hermit cosmetic item.
So it will be interesting to see what remains of the original game’s stylish next-gen look on the old consoles. In terms of gameplay, the qualities are probably unparalleled, which colleague Grimm summed up in his test at the time as follows: “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is certainly the first game of its kind to successfully bridge the gap between a linear, grippingly staged single-player story game and the unleashed excitement of exploring an open world, and is therefore probably the blueprint for all modern action adventures of the next generation.”
