Already available on PC via Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5 since 2023, The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria is preparing to broaden its horizons with a landing on Xbox Series X/S and Steam. And the debut on the new platforms is now really close.
The survival crafting adventure by Free Range Games and produced by North Beach Games will arrive on Steam and Xbox on August 27, 2024: in about three weeks, new audiences will be able to discover this unique survival game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, which also features the famous Gimli among its main characters.
But it doesn’t end there: the arrival on these additional platforms will also be accompanied by the Golden Update, which adds cross-play between all existing versions of the game and a new Sandbox mode that will further expand the game offering of the main adventure, in addition to new content and improvements. In our review of The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria we highlighted several critical issues that had prevented the project from taking flight towards excellence, but the new features of the Golden Update certainly make the work more interesting and it could therefore be worth giving it at least a chance.
There have also been rumors in the past about PS4 and Switch versions of The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria, but to date nothing of the sort has materialized and it therefore seems unlikely that the game will land on these systems as well.
