Officially, there is still no word about blocking access.
Starting from midday on August 8, Russian residents again started complain problems with access to the YouTube video service. If on August 1 there were complaints about YouTube working very slowly, now the service simply does not open.
And here’s another story
Judging by the comments on Brand Analytics and Sboy.rf, there are problems with both the web version of the service and with applications for smart TVs, iOS and Android. According to Brand Analytics, complaints about YouTube not opening come from most of Russia.
It is noteworthy that the problem is observed only in Russia. Services monitoring YouTube availability in other countries do not report any problems.
An interesting point: on August 6, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin said that blocking YouTube in Russia was “not being considered.” Meanwhile, the state of the service on August 8 resembles a block.
At the time of publication of this text, YouTube was not in the Roskomnadzor registry. Officially, the slowdown in the service’s speed is explained by the gradual failure of Google’s caching servers operating in Russia.
On August 1, several ways to speed up YouTube appeared, and they also help in the current situation.
