The special edition of the PS5 controller in the look of “Astro Bot” went on sale today. However, availability is limited and scalpers have long been active.
“Astro Bot” is one of the biggest PS5 highlights of the coming months. Accordingly, the arrival of the little robots is being celebrated with a special controller.
The special edition of the DualSense was announced last July. Sales started today and were scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. However, it seems that some retailers are not ready yet or have already sold out.
Sale started today, but hardly available
At Amazon, for example, nothing is happening at the moment. The PS5 controller in the look of “Astro Bot” is listed there, but it cannot be ordered. It simply says: “Currently unavailable”.
The input device was apparently available for a short time at Otto. However, the product listing has since disappeared. On eBay, the usual scalper prices are being demanded and ripped-off customers are said to pay 150 to 180 euros.
PlayStation Direct currently still has copies available. The Astro DualShock costs 79.99 euros there, which corresponds to the intended RRP.

The special edition of the Dualsense for the upcoming launch of “Astro Bot” offers the same technical options as the basic controller. This includes haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that intensify the gaming experience through vibrations and adjustable resistance. In addition, the controller has an integrated microphone and an improved speaker function.
The special features are also used extensively in the game. For example, the pressure of the thrusters can be felt and different structures and surfaces such as grass, sand, metal and water can be distinguished by touch.
In addition to these technical similarities, the PS5 controller for “Astro Bot” offers a customized design with blue elements and Astro’s “eyes” on the touchpad.
