Bethesda has announced the release of an updated collection of DOOM + DOOM II for PC (Steam, EGS, GOG), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It’s available for just $10, but owners of the original two games automatically get the upgrade for free.
The bundle includes the original two DOOM and DOOM II games, as well as the TNT episodes: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, Master Levels for DOOM II, No Rest for the Living, and Sigil. It also includes the all-new Legacy of Rust episode, developed by id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames. Multiplayer fans can also enjoy 25 new maps for Deathmatch. In total, players can play 187 levels and 43 maps.
The updated version includes the following improvements:
Porting of games to the KEX engine; Support for mods published by community members with a mod browser built right into the game; Compatibility with all older mods; The ability to play along with both the original DOOM and DOOM II MIDI soundtracks, as well as their modern “IDKFA” versions by composer Andrew Hulshult, which also includes new tracks for DOOM II; Improved performance thanks to multi-threaded rendering with support for resolutions up to 4K; Accessibility features, including a modern font for easy reading, high contrast mode, text-to-speech and speech-to-text for chat, and much more; Translation into 8 new languages: Spanish (Mexico), Brazilian (Portugal), Polish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional), and Chinese (Simplified).
In addition, the edition includes all the improvements that were made earlier. These include improved graphics, support for modern gamepads, a weapon menu, improved keyboard and mouse support, support for up to 4 players in local multiplayer, 60 FPS, quick save and load.
