Among the new features announced at the opening of QuakeCon 2024 is the arrival of official support for DOOM Eternal mods on Steam and subsequently on the Microsoft Store, through a new update, currently dedicated only to the PC version.
With the arrival of Update 6.66 Rev 3, DOOM Eternal on PC now gets official support for mods, which can be used on Steam in beta and later on the Microsoft Store, although there is no specific release date for this version yet.
To use the system immediately, you need to sign up for the beta through the idStudio Beta program, which also allows you to create and publish your own mods directly within the game.
A simpler approach to mods
The toolset is quite large and complete, allowing you to act on numerous aspects of the game in order to make important and very interesting changes.

The direct connection to the stores obviously also makes it easier to access and install these mods.
Up until now, community and modder support had been notable for DOOM Eternal, which has received numerous unofficial downloadable contents over time, but the arrival of this set will allow the potential audience of mods to be further expanded, through a much simpler and safer system for the development and installation of these modifications.
QuakeCon 2024 also announced new versions of DOOM 1 and 2 available for PC and consoles starting last night.
