Intel Corporation has decided to postpone the next Intel Innovation Conference, which was scheduled for September 24-25. It is officially postponed to 2025, and all the announcements that the chipmaker planned for the end of next month will be held as part of smaller-scale presentations.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone our September Intel Innovation event until 2025. Through the end of 2024, we will continue to host smaller, more targeted events, webinars, hackathons, and meetups around the world through Intel Connection and Intel AI Summit, as well as other industry events,” Intel said in a statement.
It has become a tradition for the chipmaker to announce new consumer processors at the Intel Innovation conference. In 2021, the 12th generation Core chips (Alder Lake) were presented, in 2022 – the 13th generation Core CPUs (Raptor Lake), and last year Intel announced the Core Ultra 100 processors (Meteor Lake). This year, the announcement of the desktop Core Ultra 200 (Arrow Lake-S) was expected, but, apparently, Intel will prepare a separate event for it.
The cancellation of the Intel Innovation 2024 conference is part of a global strategy to reduce costs. Recall that after the unsatisfactory financial results of the second quarter, Intel’s management announced a number of measures designed to save the company billions of dollars. In particular, it was decided to suspend dividend payments in the fourth quarter of this year and lay off about 15% of Intel’s total staff.
