When will Sony Santa Monica’s next game be announced after God of War Ragnarok? Taking to social media once again, SIE Santa Monica Creative Director Cory Barlog is stoking the PlayStation community’s curiosity with a post that seems to provide clues about his next project.
The fiery executive of the PlayStation team who gave shape to the Norse saga of God of War by directing the development of the first chapter launched in 2018 has in fact regained the pages of his Twitter/X profile to publish a photo that portrays him outside the offices of Sony Santa Monica. But that’s not all.
Along with the photo, Barlog posts a message explaining that “after years spent in the wilderness, I’m finally returning aboard the mothership to wreak havoc!”. The post by the Creative Director of SIE Santa Monica is therefore interpreted by the community as his actual return to the studios of the PlayStation Studios subsidiary after a long period of absence from the scene following the release of the first Norse reboot of God of War. There are also those, rightly or wrongly, who believe that Barlog’s reference to the ‘return to the mothership’ can be considered as a clue to the development of a sci-fi video game, while others refer to the passage through the ‘wilderness’ to hypothesize the creation of a title with a post-apocalyptic setting.
While we wait for further messages and clues from Cory Barlog, we take a look at the latest information on Sony Santa Monica’s next video game to remind you that, according to the previews that have emerged in recent months, the developers of God of War are giving shape to a new IP (we assume exclusively for PlayStation 5) completely unrelated to the adventures experienced by Kratos and Atreus.
