Who knows whose idea it was to ask a developer team that is famous for their fantastic single-player games, which are currently still considered as one of the best superhero games ever, to create a live-service game starring an antagonist character. However, this is what happened with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which indeed ended up drawing quite a lot of criticism because of its half-hearted live-service implementation and monotonous gameplay. Becoming the subject of ridicule, laughing, and discussions about the vulnerability of live-service games, it also ended up being a disaster for its parent company – Warner Bros Discovery.
In their latest financial report, Warner Bros Discovery officially reported a 41% drop in revenue compared to 2023 in the same quarter. As expected, this decline occurred due to the contrast between the success of Hogwarts Legacy and the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sales. Warner Bros has not said much about the future of Suicide Squad itself, but a report from Bloomberg indicated that some of Rocksteady’s workforce had been transferred to the new Hogwarts Legacy project.
The failure of Suicide Squad caused WB’s gaming division to swallow a 41% drop in revenue compared to last year.
Rocksteady and Warner Bros. themselves have yet to talk much about the future of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which currently at least still has content until the season is over. What about you? Have you ever dived into this game?
