It now controls nearly a quarter of the server and desktop segments.
Statistics Mercury Research on the central processor market in open form “is not lying on the road”, so it has to be studied exclusively in the presentation of foreign sites. The primary source for the second quarter formed a rather favorable picture for AMD of the dynamics of changes in the central processor market, if we leave out the obvious drop in the supply of semi-custom processors for game consoles, the demand for which is declining due to the maturity of existing models.

It is because of the inclusion of AMD components for gaming consoles in the statistics that its share of the x86-compatible processor market decreased from 31.6 to 24.6% year-on-year in the second quarter. However, AMD has been successful to some extent in other areas, and in the same server segment it was able to strengthen its position from 18.6 to 24.1%. In the mobile segment, AMD’s share has grown from 16.5 to 20.3% over the year, and in the desktop segment its position has strengthened from 19.4 to 23%. It is possible that Intel’s failures with defects found in the 13th and 14th generation Core processors will allow AMD to further strengthen its position in the desktop segment of the market, while its competitor currently controls about 77%.
