Former Plarium and IO Interactive developers have joined forces to form a new studio, Chamo Games.
Founded in September 2023 and based in Malmö, Sweden, the studio is led by former IO Interactive COO Zoher Toutanji and former Plarium creative director Roberto Schiavulli.
The studio, which employs 25 remote developers and features talent from Riot Games, CD PROJEKT RED, and Ubisoft, is currently developing a “non-lethal FPS” and will be hosting monthly playtests.
While the studio has yet to divulge funding details, the project has been backed by Lakestar, Sisu Game Ventures, and Griffin Gaming Partners.
“Chamo Games is more than just a studio; it’s a community dedicated to creating innovative gaming experiences,” Toutanji told VentureBeat. “We’re excited to share our upcoming projects that push the boundaries of the gaming genre.”
Schiavulli added, “We believe in making games that put player enjoyment and team well-being first. Our diverse team is united in our vision to elevate PC and console gaming to the next level.”
“Our first project is an unconventional skill game, but also a lot of fun.”
