Once Human has had a stellar year for an MMO that seems to have flown under the radar until now. Recently, the team at Starry Studio released a list of banned player accounts, with around 700 of them permanently banned for using hacking software.
Starry Studio is working tirelessly to polish up the game ahead of a possible mobile release later this year. Since the game’s launch on PC, the team has dealt with a terms of service controversy, some stability issues, a patch that broke more than it fixed, and apparently, a lot of bots. The developers are addressing these issues as they arise, but with Once Human set to launch on mobile on September 26, the expected iOS store release date, the team has some work to do before the next wave of players come calling for this cross-platform title.
Luckily for the developers, the problems haven’t slowed down the community’s growth too much. Exactly one month after the game’s release, Once Human has bucked the trend of a huge first-month decline: it’s still in the top 10 games on Steam, with an average daily player count of over 150,000 and a peak of 231,000. The game also has a very healthy 72% “mostly positive” rating on Steam, which is pretty amazing considering the game was initially bombarded by a report about poorly worded terms of service.
