Valve Working on a “New Helpfulness System” for Steam Review Column?
Source: Reddit
Windows Central reports that while sifting through Steam game reviews from other players, a Reddit user discovered a new option in the review column.
When this option is checked, Steam will display comprehensive game reviews and reviews that are rated high enough to appear under the “Most Helpful” filter.
At the time of writing, the option has been disabled by Valve, indicating that development is still incomplete.
“So far, the option has worked well. Valve doesn’t have to do much to stop lazy Steam users from spamming unfunny things or copy/pasting memes,” one person wrote on Reddit.
“It seems like the system filters out the useful long text reviews and filters out the rest. The help system is also on by default, which might kill this useless trend.”
Nowadays, many players flood the Steam review section with funny, unique, or controversial reviews in an attempt to earn Community Awards. This system is basically emoji reactions and gives players some Steam Points, which can be used to customize their Steam profile.
