The director does not give advice himself or ask others for it.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the director of the first Alien, Ridley Scott, toldthat during the production of the film “Alien: Romulus” he tried not to interfere with Fede Alvarez while he was doing his job.
Directing is a tough job, Scott says, made even tougher by the presence of a lot of unsolicited advice.

It gets more difficult when any person and his mother to boot start giving you advice.
The director himself does not give advice either. And he does not expect it from others.

I don’t need advice. If I fall on my own sword and lie bleeding, I’ll say, “It was my fault.”
At the same time, Scott, who directed three films in the series (Alien, Prometheus, Alien: Covenant), was not at all against Fede Alvarez taking over the baton and taking on the filming of Romulus.
The whole problem with franchises, according to Scott, is that sooner or later they die. And that’s when it’s important to step back and let someone else continue.

Fede is a burst of energy. I had to step back and let him do it. Fede had a strict plan and a clear script in his head.
Fede Alvarez, for his part, tried to recreate in Romulus “the pure horror of the first film” while making it contemporary. It is this combination, he says, that creates something new.

We went to crazy lengths to keep the first film’s directorial sensibilities pure. But if anyone’s worried, “Will it be too retro?” don’t worry, 2024 is dripping with goodness.
We’ll find out soon what comes of this: the premiere of the film “Alien: Romulus” will take place on August 16, 2024.
