Fallout London is a colossal mod, a total conversion that in fact represents almost a new game, which has achieved enormous success, thanks perhaps also to the push provided by the appeal of the Amazon TV series on the franchise, so much so as to push the group of modders to perhaps found a real indie team.
The mod reached 500,000 downloads in the first 24 hours, forcing the modder group to reorganize in order to provide constant support for the software, which seems to require special attention in this first phase, and to guarantee the long-term success of the project.
Fallout London has already received its first update, in which the team talked about the changes needed to ensure the mod, which has come to the center of global attention, can continue to thrive.
A big leap for modders
Among the initiatives undertaken by Team FOLON there is also the fact of founding a real indie team, to be built also thanks to the donations received from many players.
Fallout London is indeed distributed for free, but the size of the project and the success it has achieved are making it difficult to keep the issue limited to the amateur and free front.
In an interview published by the BBC, Dean Carter of Team FOLON explained that “a lot of people who really liked our mod have also donated money to us”, which, according to the group’s founder, could lead to the creation of a real indie team.
This solution could “allow us to be able to realize our ideas, create our own game and work as a community,” Carter explained.
