ASN Data Leaks – At the end of June 2024, Indonesian citizens were shocked by the news that the Government’s PDN server had been leaked due to being hit by Ransomware from Hackers. This caused many concerns from various parties, not only citizens but also the local government.
And recently there was news that there was an allegation that the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) Data belonging to the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) had been leaked and sold on the Hacker forum. Is that true?

What data was leaked and sold by Hackers?
Based on the information obtained, ASN Data was found to have been leaked on the internet and sold by a Hacker named TopiAx on Breach Forums. It is suspected that the collection of State Civil Apparatus data was sold for $10 thousand or around Rp. 159.4 million.
After further investigation, the leaked ASN data contains a lot of ASN data belonging to the Government starting from name, place and date of birth, position, agency, address, mobile phone number, email, CPNS and PNS dates and others.

Knowing that there was a data leak belonging to the Government, Pratama Persadha as Chairman of the Cissrec Cyber Security Research Institute explained that apart from the leaked data, there was still a lot of other data, both in the form of Cleartext and Text that had been processed using cryptographic methods.
The data uploaded on Breach Forums is known to contain sample data containing 128 ASN from various agencies in Aceh province. He also explained that his party had conducted random verification on 13 ASN whose names were listed by contacting them via WhatsApp.
At the time this article was written (11/8), there has been no official confirmation from the BKN and the Ministry of Communication and Information regarding the alleged ASN data leak. Cissrec has encouraged the Government to form a personal data protection agency for Indonesian citizens to anticipate leaks that have been increasingly frequent in recent times.
