An ambitious fan mod, Fallout: London, was recently released for Fallout 4. Due to its enormous scale, Team Folon was unable to distribute their modification via Nexus Mods, so they turned to the digital store GOG for help. This collaboration has proven fruitful for both parties.
According to GOG, Fallout: London has become the fastest-selling game in the store’s history without being a standalone product. The free mod was downloaded over 500,000 times in its first day. Fallout: London’s release has been an incredible success, and is a shining example of how passion and creativity can bring about a multitude of new, exciting ways to enjoy a game.
It’s also worth noting how GOG gracefully got around technical limitations: the service is not designed to distribute mods, so Fallout: London is nominally still sold in the store, but with a 100% discount. True, it wasn’t without problems – mainly due to shortcomings in the complex installation of the game on Steam.
The mod, which is presented in GOG, is fully compatible with the Steam version of Fallout 4, but for this you first need to remove the nextgen patch. To simplify this procedure, a special downgrader is included with the modification.
Fallout: London, being an incredibly ambitious project, immediately took the modding scene by storm and brought a lot of completely new experiences to the legendary post-apocalyptic RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. With the huge support of the gaming community, one can only congratulate Team FOLON on their grand start and achieving such a record.
