As is well known, CD Projekt is working on a new trilogy for “The Witcher”. As Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt, suggested in a video, the popular witcher will return in the next part. As Cockle suggests, however, probably only on a manageable scale.
As most people will have noticed by now, CD Projekt is currently developing a new trilogy for “The Witcher”. As the Polish studio made clear shortly after the announcement, Geralt’s story was concluded with “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”.
However, this apparently does not mean that Geralt will not play a role in the new trilogy. In a video, Doug Cockle, the English voice of the popular witcher, mentioned an interesting detail. As Cockle confirmed, Geralt will also make an appearance in the next “The Witcher” adventure.
However, fans shouldn’t expect too much here. As Cockle added, the focus of the adventure, as already communicated by CD Projekt, is on other characters and stories.
Extent of Geralt’s appearance still unclear
“The Witcher 4 has been announced. I can’t say anything about that, though. Geralt will be part of the game. We just don’t know to what extent, and the game won’t focus on Geralt. So it’s not about him this time,” Cockle elaborated.
As Geralt’s voice actor added, he too has not yet seen the script for the next “The Witcher” title.
Cockle continued: “I’m excited to find out. I want to know! I haven’t seen a script yet. But I couldn’t tell you if I had one. That’s the thing. So I could lie shamelessly, but I’m not… or am I?” Cockle last commented on the new “The Witcher” trilogy in late 2023.
At the time, he put forward the theory that the story could focus on Ciri, a suspicion shared by a large part of the community.
CD Projekt breaks new ground
In recent weeks, those responsible at CD Projekt have spoken several times about the next “The Witcher” title. At an investor conference in early April, for example, the Polish studio pointed out that the developers are working on various innovations with which they are taking “creative risks”.
“I think what I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t expect to get The Witcher 3 in a new disguise, so to speak. Of course, we’re building on what came before and what we’ve learned. But we’re going to add new gameplay elements and new mechanics that you haven’t seen in our previous games,” commented co-CEO Michał Nowakowski.
In April, it was also announced that around 400 developers, or almost half of CD Projekt’s workforce, are currently involved in the development of “Project Polaris,” the working title of the new “The Witcher” title. CD Projekt did not reveal when the ambitious project will be released.
However, we probably shouldn’t expect the new “The Witcher” trilogy to start before 2026.
