Due to hardware limitations or poor optimization by developers, many video games have bored players with very long loading screens over the years, especially before the arrival of super-fast SSDs on the market. But which games have the longest waiting times? Here are a few.
GTA 5 and GTA Online
We couldn’t help but start with Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online multiplayer component, which even in its most recent versions – which have improved the situation anyway – offers really long loading times, especially regarding the initial loading screen.
Anthem
Anthem is also no joke, forcing the player to wait for a good few minutes before being able to climb aboard a Javelin and start playing. In fact, each time, you have to wait for two long loading screens: the one that leads to the city and the one that starts the actual mission. The situation is alleviated only on PC, where those who install the game on SSD can drastically reduce the waiting times.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 (PS4)
A recent game that has bored users a lot is Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, which has caused a lot of discussion on social media because of the loading screen of the first level, which is truly infinite. We are talking about a five-minute wait for the PlayStation 4 version, more than enough time to even have more than one coffee.
Just Cause 3 (Xbox One)
Another example of poor optimization was the Xbox One version of Just Cause 3, which in addition to suffering from technical problems also had incredibly long loading screens, some lasting up to fifteen minutes.
Destiny 2 (PS4/Xbox One)
Destiny 2 also had incredibly long wait times, at least in the initial version for the old-gen consoles. Each move took minutes, during which you would watch the ship suspended in the air and wait for it to finally start moving towards the destination. Thankfully, the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions have fixed this problem and now the loading times, while still present, are much shorter.
