The Nextorage brand, owned by Sony, has introduced a new series of compact solid-state NVMe drives G Series ME in M.2 2230 format for mini-PCs and portable gaming consoles. The presented new products are quite fast representatives in their SSD class.
The manufacturer claims sequential read speeds of up to 7400 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6200 MB/s for the G Series ME drives. SSD performance in random read and write operations is claimed to be 750 thousand and 850 thousand IOPS, respectively.
Nextorage doesn’t say what controller is used in the G Series ME drives, other than to say they feature advanced features and lack a DRAM buffer. The new drives also use 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips and SLC cache, which is created from unallocated space on the SSD.
The Nextorage G Series ME series of drives consists of 1 and 2 TB models. The manufacturer claims a resource of 600 TBW (terabytes of rewritten information) for the first, and 1200 TBW for the second. Both versions are covered by a five-year warranty.
The Nextorage G Series ME 1TB model is priced at around $149, while the 2TB version is priced at around $265. They are available now in Japan. There is no word on when they will be available in other markets.
