AMD announced that it has completed the acquisition of Silo AI, the largest privately held AI lab in Europe, with more than 300 world-class experts creating customized AI solutions for major corporate clients including Allianz, Philips, Rolls-Royce and Unilever.
This is AMD’s largest acquisition of AI software, valued at about $665 million. The Reds have also invested more than $125 million in a dozen AI companies over the past year, including Mipsology and Nod.ai. The Silo AI team will join AMD’s Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), which is led by AMD Senior Vice President Vamsi Boppana.
“AI is our number one strategic priority, and we continue to invest in talent and software to support growing customer projects and roadmaps,” said Boppana. “The Silo AI team has developed state-of-the-art language models trained at scale on AMD Instinct accelerators and has deep experience developing and integrating AI models to solve mission-critical problems for end customers. We expect their expertise and software capabilities to directly improve the customer experience in delivering the most effective AI solutions on AMD platforms.”
