Streaming service Netflix has launched production on an animated version of Ghostbusters, writes Variety, citing sources, reports that Elliot Kalan will be the show’s writer and executive producer.
The show will reportedly be produced by Ghost Corps, Inc. and Sony Pictures Animation. Along with Calan, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are writing the animated Ghostbusters script.
Reitman and Kenan wrote and directed the most recent Ghostbusters films. Elliott Calan has not worked on the franchise before; he was the head writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
There is no information about the plot of the animated version of “Ghostbusters”. Currently, there are two animated projects in the “Ghostbusters” universe, the first of which began airing in 1986.
There is no word on when the Netflix and Sony series might be released.
