Bethesda usually catapults itself into the center of media coverage through brands like the Elder Scrolls. When exactly we can expect news about the sixth game in the main series remains a mystery. In the meantime, they have tried to bring an open-world adventure in a sci-fi setting to market with Starfield.
Looking back, it was probably more or less successful. At times, the game lost immense popularity. But at the moment, neither the sci-fi adventure nor the return to Tamriel are the focus of the video game industry. Instead, it is a former studio from the Bethesda universe that is causing a stir.
What is Tango Gameworks?
For years, Tango Gameworks belonged to Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda. Many people will remember the studio not least for Hi-Fi Rush, one of the biggest surprise hits of recent years. However, the team from Tokyo had already scored points with various games years before.
Think of The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo. Well, it’s a shame that the studio was closed not so long ago. Successful games were not enough to save Tango Gameworks from its own demise. Accordingly, many fans were angry when the official announcement was made.
Microsoft announced the closure of the studio in May. Shortly before, Hi-Fi Rush had been released for the PS5. Since then, a few things have changed, as Tango Gameworks has found a new home after a few months.
A future for the Bethesda studio?
The Korean publisher Krafton has taken on the future of the studio. In doing so, they have not only made the decision to continue Tango Gameworks itself.
