Taking into account not only the high prices but also their further increase, we can talk about some intermediate saturation of demand for Tesla Cybertruck electric pickups, since now customers are offered only expensive configurations. Starting next year, an additional block of traction batteries will be available for the pickup, adding 208 km to the power reserve.
This accessory was originally advertised by Tesla, but it is still not available for purchase. As representatives found out Electrekthe company now promises to launch the so-called “range extender” for the Cybertruck from early next year. The parallelepiped-shaped device will be installed in the body close to the rear wall of the cabin, reducing the available space in the cargo compartment by about a third in length. The cost of the option will reach $16,000.
It is important to note that the user does not have the right to install or remove such an additional traction battery on their own. Only Tesla specialists at a branded service should do this. Firstly, it is large and heavy enough for the car owner to manipulate it at home. Secondly, reliable fixation of the heavy battery pack in the body is an important condition for ensuring safety. The power reserve of the usual dual-motor Cybertruck version will increase from 544 to 752 km, in the case of the three-motor Cyberbeast, an increase from 512 to 704 km is planned. As noted, owners of pickups with such an accessory can enjoy priority in servicing at Tesla branded services if they need to install it or dismantle it back.
