One Piece on Netflix? Headlines like this would actually make you think of the live-action adaptation of the Shōnen icon. In recent months, we have reported on both the release itself and the upcoming seasons of the project. Netflix is planning further episodes about the real-life Straw Hat Pirates.
Aside from this adaptation, there is another project involving One Piece that Netflix is involved in. These days, far from filming and CGI work, a new version of the anime series is being worked on. How fitting that we can see footage from the remake for the first time.
The anime remake of One Piece
THE ONE PIECE, an animated remake of the shōnen classic, was unveiled in December 2023. According to financial reports from animation studio WIT, production seems to have been in the middle of it since November of last year. It has now been almost 25 years since the debut of the original TV series.
Just like the live-action interpretation of the manga by Eeichiro Oda, THE ONE PIECE will be broadcast on Netflix. However, it is not yet known when exactly the series will make its official debut. At least the anticipation of the fan community has been fueled again recently with pictures from the project.

Not surprisingly, as Comic Book Resources notes, the project will be broadcast in 16:9. At the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s, One Piece was still stuck in the 4:3 look of the television standard of the time. Widescreen productions were an absolute rarity at the time, both in Germany and internationally.
