For Google fans, these are heated times, and not just because of the temperatures, which are dangerously approaching 40 degrees today. This year, the US company has decided to hold an annual highlight in mid-summer instead of in the fall as usual. The weeks and months behind us have therefore been marked by a lot of news, with an unpleasant Google decision causing disappointment. But now Google seems to have finally come to its senses.
Google smartphones: Formerly Nexus, now Pixel
Google has been releasing new Pixel devices every year since 2016. Initially there was only one smartphone in two sizes, but now Google also offers tablets, smartwatches and Pixel smartphones in many different versions. But Google has been active as a hardware manufacturer in the mobile sector for much longer.
Google’s first smartphone, the Nexus One, was launched in 2010. The Nexus series finally ended in 2015 with the premium smartphone Nexus 6P and the mid-range phone Nexus 5X. Since 2016, Google has been focusing much more on the premium segment with the Pixel series than before.
For years, Google was able to justify the now (very) high prices with lucrative free offers. But Google now seems to be saying goodbye to that. Or maybe not?
Pixel 9 smartphone: Google defies the doom and gloom
When Google presents the Pixel 9 devices today, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 7 p.m., buyers and pre-orderers will have to dig deeper into their pockets than ever before. Almost all Pixel 9 smartphones are expected to be priced above the 1,000 euro mark. You can find all the information on the (probable) prices for Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold here. But apparently it could be worth it to snap up a deal now.
Media Markt has confirmed an attractive promotion for pre-orderers. This initially only seems to apply to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but the promotion will probably also apply to the other Pixel 9 models. Anyone who pre-orders the Google smartphone from Media Markt will get double the storage space at no extra charge. And there’s more.

Wow, awesome: Stream all TV channels online at a super low price and get a generous free gift
Currently, you can not only get cheap television, but also get the catalog of a streaming provider at the same time.
Media Markt is also offering a purchase bonus of 200 euros. This will reduce the price of a Pixel 9 (Pro XL) even further. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available in three color variants (obsidian, porcelain, hazelnut) and four storage capacities from 128 GB to 1 TB. Google will most likely charge hefty prices for it, ranging from around 1,200 euros (128 GB) to almost 1,700 euros (1 TB). Media Markt’s pre-order campaign should make the premium smartphone a little more affordable.
