Birthday of Baldur’s Gate 3
To mark the one-year anniversary, the creators of Larian Studios shared statistics. These also revealed that there is an ending to Baldur’s Gate 3, which only 34 players have actually reached. If we remember the over 640,000 reviews on Steam and realize that only a fraction of the players review, you can imagine the extent of the total number of players.
In March 2024, Larian Studios announced that Baldur’s Gate had already sold 15 million copies. Only 34 players had reached that one ending. How can such a thing be possible?

How do you get this super rare ending in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Larian Studios reveals that the 34 players who achieved this extremely rare ending in Baldur’s Gate 3 chose the player character Lae’zel. They also decided to end themselves at the end of the game after being denied ascension by Vlaakith.
It should come as no surprise that this ending was chosen so rarely. First, Lae’zel must be chosen as the origin character, and then the game requires very specific decisions. Players must remain loyal to Queen Vlaakith and turn Lae’zel into a mind flayer in the third act. After that, they must choose ascension, which is then denied. Anyone who decides now that they do not want to live can reach this extremely rare ending.

Baldur’s Gate 3 almost never happened: Larian Studios almost made a new Fallout or even Ultima!
But there are other factors at play for this ending in particular. Players have to make a deal with Raphael for the hammer, kill Orpheus or betray the Emperor. All of this, together with all the other steps, leads to the end. A chain of decisions that apparently very few people in the world have chosen. Pretty strange.
