Serial production of aluminum crankcases for Sollers Argo light commercial vehicles has started at the industrial site of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The new project is being implemented by the SOLLERS Group with financial support from the Industrial Development Fund (IDF).
The funds from the FRP loan, the total amount of which exceeds 564 million rubles, were used to purchase new foundry and technological equipment, cutting and measuring tools, modernization and commissioning of foundry equipment, as well as launching and debugging the technological process.
“Localization of production of front and rear housings is one of the stages of the large-scale localization program of the SOLLERS Group,” noted Il’nur Sakhabiev, General Director of Sollers Transmission Production LLC. “This will allow us to increase competitiveness and increase the volume of production of products manufactured at the group’s enterprises. The Industrial Development Fund provides us with significant financial support in this work.”
The production of mechanical gearboxes, as well as some of their components, including housings, is financed with the participation of the Industrial Development Fund (IDF). The total budget of the project exceeds 710 million rubles.
SOLLERS plans to produce up to 8 thousand crankcases by the end of 2024, with subsequent annual growth in production volumes. In the future, local units are expected to appear on other Sollers and UAZ models.
The manufactured housings are used in the assembly of mechanical six-speed gearboxes manufactured in Zavolzhye, which in turn are installed on Sollers Argo light commercial vehicles.
