The indie publisher North Beach Games is expanding its presence in Europe by founding a new development studio. A sequel to “Stranded Deep” is being developed there.
North Beach Games has been active in the survival crafting genre for a long time and made a name for itself with “7 Days to Die”, among other things. The title was released this year as a console edition for the PS5.
The company wants to expand its capacity with a new studio. It is called North Beach Games Prague and is, as expected, based in the Czech capital.
Creator of the first Stranded Deep on board
The new location will be managed by Tomáš Pšenička, who will now be General Manager of North Beach Games Prague, and Sam Edwards, one of the creators of “Stranded Deep”, who has been hired as CTO. A sequel to the game will be the new studio’s first project.
“We are thrilled to start development of Stranded Deep 2 with our new development team, North Beach Games Prague,” said Edwards, who is also involved as Creative Director.
In “Stranded Deep 2,” players once again encounter a survival adventure in paradise. While information about the sequel is still sparse, survival after a plane crash apparently remains a central element.
After the original game sold millions of copies, the sequel sounds like a logical step – even if the technical implementation fell short of expectations. PS Plus members get the title from the Extra level onwards at no additional cost via the subscription. All other pay 19.99 euros in the PlayStation Store.
“Stranded Deep” is a survival adventure game developed by Beam Team Games. Players take on the role of a survivor after a plane crash and try to maintain this survival status in the Pacific Ocean.
During the course of the survival adventure, you have to collect resources, make tools, look for food and water, and find shelter from all kinds of dangers. There is also a day-night cycle and dynamic weather, which makes survival even more challenging.
