By the end of the first week of release, the box office receipts for the film “Alien: Romulus” exceeded $108 million. The film opened a third better than expected: it was initially expected that the film would collect around $75 million.
In the U.S., Alien: Romulus earned $41.5 million, the second-best opening in the franchise. Only Prometheus had a higher opening, earning $51 million in its home market.
The rest of the world added another $66.7 million to Alien: Romulus’s box office. The film was especially popular in China, where it earned $25.7 million, making it the second-best opening of 2024 for a Hollywood film.
Alien: Romulus also did well in Korea ($5.4 million), the UK ($4.8 million), France ($3.8 million) and Mexico ($2.8 million).
Alien: Romulus’ First Week Box Office Take became the most successful film in the career of director Fede Alvarez. In addition, the film tops the personal list of actress Cailee Spaeny, who played the main role.
