In recent years, titles such as Destiny 2 and Warframe have shown that the combination of online role-playing and looter shooter can inspire numerous fans. One example of this is the launch of the latest expansion for Destiny 2, “The Final Form”, which almost set a new record on Steam almost seven years after the release of the main game.
Nevertheless, a few weeks ago, developer Bungie experienced another huge wave of layoffs, in which not only a number of employees had to leave, but the future of Destiny 2 was also addressed. And at the same time, the shooter also had to deal with a new competitor that was able to attract a huge number of players on Steam right from the start.
New content announced for role-playing shooter
Specifically, it’s about The First Descendant by developer Nexon, which was released at the end of June as a free-to-play title for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. We presented everything the title can do in detail in a test at the time of its launch. And now the start of Season 1 “Invasion” is imminent, which will bring a lot of new content to the looter shooter. There is also a trailer, which we have prepared for you at the end of the report.

What’s new in Season 1 of The First Desecendant?
Nexon has planned a total of three extensive updates for The First Descendant in the coming weeks. One of the highlights of Season 1 is a new class, the sniper Hailey. Players can also look forward to two additional dungeons, ultimate weapons, another boss fight and a new Descendant story centered around Freyna. The current trailer for Season 1: Invasion provides a first taste.

When does Season 1 of The First Descendant start?
According to developer Nexon, Season 1 of The First Descendant will begin on August 29, 2024 on all platforms. The exact intervals at which the three updates will be launched have not yet been determined.
