And thereby create up to 500 jobs.
The United Company RusTechnology Nizhnekamsk, owned by Chinese investors, plans to build a large plant for processing rolled steel on the territory of a future special economic zone (SEZ) near Izhevsk.
The corresponding draft of the agreement of intent was published on the website of the Udmurt government. The ambitious project, which involves investments of 8 billion rubles, is intended to breathe new life into the industrial sector of the region and create up to 500 jobs.
According to the project, the enterprise will consist of three workshops, an administrative building and auxiliary premises, occupying an area of 52.2 thousand square meters. The investments are planned to be developed within three years. It is noteworthy that this is not the first experience of Chinese investors in Russia. In 2015, the United Company RusTekhnologii Murom LLC was registered in the Vladimir Region, co-owned by Chinese citizen Ma Deming. In 2023, the revenue of this enterprise, specializing in the production of rolled galvanized steel, exceeded 32 billion rubles.
Information about the possible construction of a metalworking plant by Chinese investors on the site of the future SEZ in Izhevsk appeared earlier, but the details of the project were not disclosed. In July 2024, it was reported that Udmurtia had already fulfilled the plan for the minimum volume of investment from potential SEZ residents, which amounted to 8 billion rubles. The application for the creation of the SEZ was to be submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia by the end of August.
RusTekhnologii Nizhnekamsk, registered in Tatarstan in May this year, specializes in metal processing and coating. Its beneficiary is Chinese citizen Ma Deming, and its CEO is Kyrgyz citizen Ulan Mederbekov. The successful experience of RusTekhnologii Murom allows us to hope that the new project near Izhevsk will also be successful and will become a kind of “steel bridge” between Russia and China.
According to SPARK-Interfax, the authorized capital of RusTekhnologii Nizhnekamsk is 10 million rubles. RusTekhnologii Murom is headed by Chinese citizen Lai Xuemei. It is obvious that Chinese entrepreneurs see the prospects of investing in Russian industry, and Udmurtia, in turn, gets the opportunity to develop the economy and create new jobs.
