AMD and Microsoft have prepared an update for the Windows 11 23H2 operating system, which is designed to improve the performance of Ryzen 9000 (Granite Ridge) processors. Previously, it was planned to be released as part of Windows 11 24H2. This version of the operating system is already available to participants in the Windows Insider program and, as independent tests show, it really improves the performance of the “red” CPUs.
To improve gaming performance in Windows 11 23H2, AMD Ryzen processor owners should install the optional update KB5041587 via Windows Update. It contains optimizations of the branch prediction unit prepared for Windows 11 24H2. Most importantly, the performance gain should be felt by owners of not only Zen 5 CPUs, but also chips with Zen 4 and Zen 3 architecture. For example, the Ryzen 7 7700X demonstrated a 10% performance increase in tests by foreign colleagues.
