Google has started rolling out a new feature called Gems, which lets users create custom chatbots. These chatbots, also called “Gems,” can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as working out, cooking, writing, and more. The feature was first announced at Google I/O in May, but now it’s available to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers.
To create a Gem, users can simply describe a set of instructions to define the chatbot’s personality and specialties. For example, you could create a “knowledgeable, informal, and friendly” Gem that helps plan low- or no-water gardens. But Google also offers a variety of pre-built Gems, including a learning coach, idea generator, career guide, programming partner, and editor.
As mentioned, Gems will be available to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business, and Gemini Enterprise users on mobile and desktop in over 150 countries and in most languages, Italian included.
With the launch of Gems, Google is trying to bridge the gap with OpenAI, which introduced a similar feature months ago. OpenAI, however, goes one step further, allowing users to share their custom chatbots through a dedicated store.
However, Google has taken a major step forward in the field of artificial intelligence with the launch of Gems. This new feature gives users the ability to create personalized chatbots that can be used for a wide range of tasks. It will be interesting to see how this technology develops in the future and how it is adopted by users.
