It’s no joke that Windows 11 hasn’t been that popular since its release a few years ago. Many users are still comfortable using Windows 10 for office work and gaming.
But, after a few years, it seems like Windows 10’s popularity position has begun to be infiltrated by its younger sibling. At least looking at the number of Windows 11 users on Steam which has slowly increased.
Windows 11 Beats Windows 10 As Most Popular OS on Steam
Win11
Finally, Windows 10 has been successfully pushed by its younger sibling according to the Steam Hardware Survey last August. From the percentage of users, Windows 11 experienced an increase of 3.36% and is currently in first place with a total of 49.17%.
Meanwhile, the previous champion, Windows 10, dropped 3.07% and now only has 47.09%, making it second. This proves that around 2% of users have switched OS in the last month.
Get first position
Although this number is released by Steam, it does not mean that this number is 100% accurate. This is because the number only shows the numbers of those who participated in the monthly hardware survey.
Windows 11 Still Not That Popular Outside of Gaming
Windows 10 still wins overall
The good progress in this monthly SHS does not mean that the OS is popular among non-gamers. Because, overall, Windows only had a total of 31.6% of users in August.
The first position is still held by Windows 10 with a total of 64.1% users according to Statcounter. However, with Windows 10’s short lifespan, it is not impossible that many users will be forced to move to the latest version because they no longer get updates.
