Starting today, those who pre-ordered the Gold Edition should have access to the racing game “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown”. But even several hours after the planned pre-launch, some players are still left empty-handed.
Players who have decided to pre-order the Gold Edition of the racing game “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown”, which costs just under 90 euros, will not only be able to enjoy exclusive digital content.
Furthermore, all owners of the Gold Edition will receive access to the racing game this Thursday, seven days before everyone else. At least that is the theory. In practice, however, a frustrating scenario is currently unfolding for players. Numerous players are complaining just in time for today’s launch about massive technical problems.
In detail, it is about login and connection errors that prevent players from connecting to the servers. Since “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown” is a title that relies on a permanent internet connection, the racing game is simply unplayable for those affected.
Players continue to struggle with problems
The developers of KT Racing reacted promptly and temporarily took the servers for maintenance work from the network. The stated goal: to resolve the connection problems as quickly as possible. A goal that was unfortunately only partially achieved.
While some users say they can finally start playing the game, others say they are still left out.
In a recent tweet posted at 2:50 p.m. our time, the developers at KT Racing confirmed the statements of those affected and admitted that technical problems are still occurring and that they are working hard to resolve them.
“Some players are currently unable to enter the game. We are working hard to resolve connection and login issues with the Early Unlock servers and thank you for your patience,” so the studio.
First users threaten to refund
However, it seems that some of those affected have not shown the patience they had hoped for. Some players have pointed out on platforms such as Reddit or X (formerly Twitter) that they are considering initiating a refund due to the technical problems.
Furthermore, the players criticize the communication from KT Racing, which has so far been limited to a few tweets.
“The lack of communication is worrying. Things can go wrong, but communication is key. You have to remember that people have paid good money to be able to play early. What’s worse, many have probably taken their annual leave to play this. It’s unplayable and there isn’t even the decency to inform us,” says one user.
The regular release of “Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown” will take place on September 12, 2024. Let’s hope that KT Racing learns from the current problems to ensure a smooth launch.
