Honor announced the global version of the Magic V3 smartphone at the IFA 2024 event in Berlin – this is the thinnest foldable model in the world. Despite its compact dimensions, the device offers advanced technical equipment, including the current flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
One of the most important advantages of the Honor Magic V3 is the improved 2.84 mm thick hinge mechanism, designed for half a million bends. It helped reduce the thickness of the case to 9.2 mm when folded and to 4.35 mm when unfolded, without taking into account the protruding camera blocks. The smartphone body boasts a frame made of 7-series aluminum alloy and water protection in accordance with the IPX8 standard; the weight of the gadget is only 226 g.
On the front side of the Honor Magic V3 case there is an external 6.43-inch display with FHD+ resolution; the LTPO OLED matrix provides it with a dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. It has a standard aspect ratio of 20:9 for modern monoblocks, the peak brightness is 2500 cd / m², and stylus input is supported. For the main 7.92-inch display, an LTPO OLED matrix was also chosen, which corresponds to an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz; peak brightness is 1800 cd / m². The Goodix ultrasonic fingerprint scanner promises their fast recognition.
Honor Magic V3 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip — 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a UFS 4.0 drive from 256 GB to 1 TB are installed together. The thin case did not prevent the manufacturer from equipping the device with a larger cooling system than last year’s model.
Three cameras in the main block are represented by a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.6 aperture and optical stabilizer, a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 3.5x zoom (f/3.0), and a 40-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.2); 20-megapixel cameras are located in the through-holes of both screens.
The smartphone runs MagicOS 8.0.1 based on Android 14. It supports AI-powered Circle to Search and Honor Parallel Space, which lets you split the main display to create two separate smartphones with their own apps and profiles — you can even assign them separate SIM cards.
The internal screen also offers Honor AI Defocus Eye Protection, which prevents myopia by simulating the effect of bifocal glasses. The third-generation silicon-carbon battery has a capacity of 5150 mAh and supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The international version of the Honor Magic V3 will go on sale in black, brown and green colors for €1999 in a single configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of built-in storage.
