The crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the sequel to Uwe Boll’s Postal turned out to be a complete failure. Only $850 of the $2.5 million target was raised, after which the event had to be cancelled.
The campaign was launched on September 1st and was positioned as a strike against “political agendas, algorithmic bullshit and wook culture.” Ball’s own statement said that “making POSTAL 2 is my duty to freedom of art, speech and life.”
But then the franchise owners, Running With Scissors, stepped in. In a post on Facebook and shared on Twitter, RWS CEO Vince Desiderio wrote that “The official position of RWS is that we do NOT support this crowdfunding initiative. I have no idea who Gary Otto (Ball’s partner, in whose name the crowdfunding campaign was launched), the owner of the project, is. No one has contacted us about this, which is very concerning.”
The original film based on Postal was released in 2007, receiving scathing reviews from critics and failing miserably at the box office.
