On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, which falls today, September 9th, Bungie celebrated the occasion by also announcing the plan for the future of Destiny 2, through a program called “Codename Frontiers” which includes new expansions and free updates over the years.
The new model will see two mid-sized expansions and four major free updates each year for Destiny 2, through an evolution aimed at improving the player experience and kicking off what Bungie calls “a new multi-year saga.”
This new saga should feature a non-linear story, increased systemic innovation, and significant improvements to core gameplay activities and rewards.
The Plan for the Future of Destiny 2
There is already a roadmap for upcoming content and events, which you can see summarized in the image below, starting with Codename Apollo, scheduled for summer 2025, and the subsequent expansion Codename Behemoth scheduled for winter 2025.

Apollo follows Bungie’s new direction as a character-driven, non-linear adventure and the first of the new expansion model.
Elsewhere, the Destiny 10th Anniversary celebration includes several exciting initiatives, such as earning the Legend title in Destiny 2 by completing various objectives within Final Form, including completing the Legendary campaign, wearing the anniversary armor set during ritual activities, exploring the Pale Heart to earn new objectives, and more.
Players who earn the Legend Title before September 24 will also get exclusive early access through Bungie Rewards to purchase the Destiny 2 Ace of Spades NERF LMTD Blaster weapon before its official release on October 8.
Bungie has also partnered with ArtStation for the “Bungie 10 Year Destiny Art Blast,” an online showcase of the work of 66 artists who have helped shape the Destiny universe over time.
