Rockstar Games may take longer to develop its hotly anticipated open-world crime thriller GTA VI than originally expected, GTA Base reported.
Let’s remember that GTA VI is officially expected in the fall of 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, although Kotaku’s sources warned in the spring about the developers’ “backup plan” – a postponement to 2026.
How reported According to GTA Base author billsyliamgta, Rockstar Games has allegedly already decided to postpone the release of GTA VI to the first half of 2026. The information is based on information from “several developers in two studios.”
billsyliamgta also revealed the release date of GTA VI on PC. The PC version has not been officially confirmed, but the informant claims that it should be expected 12-18 months after the console release (that is, in 2027).
GTA VI will take place in the Florida-inspired state of Leonidas, with players taking on the role of criminals Jason and Lucia. It promises to be the “largest and most realistic world” in the series’ history.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick commented (as evasively as possible) on the situation surrounding a potential PC version of GTA VI at the TD Cowen conference in May.
Shortly after the premiere of the first trailer for the game, former GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 animator Mike York spoke about why Take-Two and Rockstar are delaying the release of GTA VI on PC.
