The PS5 Pro offers gamers impressive graphics at high frame rates. In the following video presentation, Mark Cerny, Lead Architect of the PS5 Pro, explains the most important innovations.
The presentation offers a first glimpse into the key features that will make the PS5 Pro so special.
The Big Three
An improved graphics processor: With the PS5 Pro, Sony is upgrading the graphics processor: 67% more processing units than the current PS5 console and 28% more memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering, which makes the gaming experience significantly smoother. Advanced ray tracing: The developers have added even more powerful ray tracing that enables more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be generated at twice, sometimes even three times the speed of the current PS5 console. AI-driven upscaling: The developers are also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses machine learning-based technology to deliver a razor-sharp image by adding details.
Other improvements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can be applied to more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. This feature can stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve resolution on select PS4 games.
The PS5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in areas that support this standard. VRR and 8K gaming will also be supported.
The PlayStation 5 Pro will be available in stores from November 7th for EUR 799.99 / us$ 699.99. Pre-order starts from September 26th. We have requested the Swiss prices.
